My name is Michelle Winrich. I started Honeyed Home because I am a lover of all things food. The picture above kind of says it all. That was me, on the morning of our wedding day, making our wedding cake. I have always loved to cook and bake and I feel that there is so much to be learned about oneself through all the trials and tribulations in the kitchen. I knew I had to contribute to the food we ate on our wedding somehow and the cake seemed like the perfect avenue. Our cake was so special and was something I will cherish forever. I have a passion for healthy eating and I am always looking to turn those heavy, rich, and sometimes portly recipes I grew up on, into lighter & healthier alternatives. I can not call myself a vegetarian because I eat fish (sushi is my favorite!) and I will, occasionally, just have to try whatever my husband just ordered. My husband, Kris (I refer to him often here on this blog), has been known to love a nice pungent cheese plate, something along the lines of a warm confit duck salad, a rare steak, and a smooth Cabernet. Now don’t get me wrong, I am totally with him on the cheese plate and well-bodied Cab, but I tend to stray from the meat. We often joke about the fact that he will ALWAYS order rabbit if presented on the menu, and that I ALWAYS eat like a rabbit. We are two opposite, happy, and hungry rabbits. Maybe, I should have called this blog “The Two Rabbits”? I digress.

Within this blog I hope to continue my quest to create meals that satisfy both my game-loving husband and the greener-the-better-salad-addict in myself. I envision a sweet balance, or marriage if you will, of recipes that incorporate whole grains, vitamin-packed veggies, and all natural sweeteners that satisfy BOTH our palates. My wish: for my recipes to help you please all the palates in your own home in a single dish. I am discovering new tips, tricks, and ideas in the kitchen everyday, so please do not think me as a professional but as a devotee for wholesome and natural food. All that I can offer to you, is a constant  and passionate yearning to learn. I promise to continue to strive to  better myself and the recipes everyday. Hopefully you stick with me on this journey. It should also be noted that I do not consider myself a “photographer”, and that I just got my first real (and expensive) camera on Christmas of 2012. I use a Nikon D3200 and often choose to shoot with my 40mm micro lens. Like I said, I am always practicing, so please bear with me through the process!
